It’s a beautiful snowy day in Salt Lake City. The snow is the type our region only gets, so impossibly light that it appears only slightly heavier than the air itself. If you look close enough and at the right angle you’d sweat some of the flakes float upwards as if they actually are.
The snow means a lot to our region too, especially now, today. The American West is in the midst of a 20-years long mega-drought. The great Salt Lake is estimated to be about 20 feet lower from its peak, exposing many parts of the lakebed and a drastically reduced surface are. It’s scary to think what it would be like here without the water.
Our geographic region is special when it comes to water and most that live here don’t know that. More to come in a later post.
With the snow falling so beautifully today and the water from it soaking into the earth I channeled my creative spirit and wrote a poem about how I felt about the above scenario when it came into my mind as I watched the snow.
Here is my poem, titled simply “Water”
Molecule 2:1 Simple Abundant Liquid Life Sustain Absorb Travel Thirst Consume Assume Fight Consequence Ignore Idiots Over
If there is one thing we should be thankful for it’s water. Our water, the earths water. It’s precious to all life.
With love and deep appreciation,
