Many years ago when I first got obsessed with design, I’d spend countless hours browsing people’s portfolios and projects on Behance.
It became a sort of addiction. I’d fall in love with some artists and designers and their work. Here are a few of my favorite Behance projects of all time:
Velocipedia by Gianluca Gimini - I LOVE BIKES!
Hiromichi Ito - A Japanese illustrator I’ve loved and followed since 2012!
Denigot Nicolas - An incredible digital artist with a unique street graffiti style
Fast forward to about 2 months ago and I started seeing this guy, Scott Belsky, regularly in my X feed. As the algorithm tends to do, his tweets were resonating with me. I’d screen shot them and save them in my notes.
Today I saw another one with a quote from Rick Rubin:
So good. I subscribe to this premise wholeheartedly. It’s my POV and perspective that get channeled into the art that makes it special.
I finally clicked on his profile and realized who this Scott Belsky guy was. A co-founder of Behance and now exec at Adobe. This guy already created one of my favorite platforms of all-time and now he’s building incredible stuff at Adobe that’s pushing the limits of “tools” to the max. I love it.
Who knew! Of course this made me even more curious and landed me on his Substack called “Implications”. I’ve now read several of his monthly newsletters that are packed full of great info, thoughts, and things that get my brain spinning.
Even though I’ve technically had a relationship with Scott and his creative outputs for 15 years now through Behance, I feel like this is just the start of my journey in absorbing his outputs.
It’s a fun and exciting place to be, when you resonate with something or someone and you know you have lots of discovery left. For curious people like me it’s like a great appetizer, knowing you have a whole meal and desert to consume still.
Scott, your work has given me great joy and I look forward to the future joy and knowledge it brings. Thanks for putting it out there and allowing people like me to absorb it.
With love and deep appreciation,
-Andrew
